The process of building such a vehicle is
very rewarding to me. Each one is a "test" of my own abilities.
The research required to "get it right" is also fun for me.
In a way, it is akin to restoring a piece of history.
The amount of effort (read: time, ability and yes, money) required to build an actual #1 car may be the very reasons there are very few "true" #1 cars.
