This picture should answer that question. These are obviously the later ('49-'53) flatheads. Notice NO spark plugs, and the oddball contraptions bolted to the rears (bottoms) of the blocks. I believe these engines are either headed TO, or FROM the huge stands where dozens of new engines were mounted and connected with huge electric motors which ran the rotating assemblies up to speed to help in a rudimentary, initial 'break-in' process.
