When I rebuild these early Ford banjo rears I always replace the oil seal that's located behind that bearing sleeve. To get the old seal out, the bearing sleeve must also come out. I have never torn one of these rears down that didn't need all three of those seals replaced. However, none of these rears ever had a worn out bearing sleeve so did not need to replace that part. Be careful of the repo bearing sleeves that are being sold today. Many are just plain junk!
