John there's always somebody going over. If you like I will give Jim Kerr a call as he may already know what postage will cost to the US. I know a lot of Aussies go to the US with a near empty suitcase so it can be loaded up with goodies for the trip home!!!
Jeff, the biggest problem with the old aluminium heads was the alloy mixture wasn't quite right, and they corroded easily. (also didn't have the quality anti corrosion additives like today). You also have to use the correct head gaskets, never install copper gaskets with alloy heads.
The alloy heads and intake are heaps lighter than Cast Iron type and also transfer heat better. You are right , by machining the face of the heads you will increase the compression by making the chamber smaller.
