Re: Are cylinder bore sleeves reliable in Y Blocks?
I've not had to sleeve a y-block but I've had a couple of flatheads sleeved. One was 20+ years and many thousands of miles ago and it's still going strong with no sleeve issues. It was bored .80 over after sleeving one cylinder. I think it depends more on the quality of the work than anything to do with a particular block design. Many current model engines are sleeved at the factory. One hole shouldn't be a problem. Even all 8 is doable but it would be expensive. Each cylinder would have to be sleeved one at a time to keep the block from getting wiggly.
