well what would destroy an oil pan is water/rust. oil is a water repellent and most model A engines leak oil thus coating the outside - the inside is usually left with oil in it , mix with a little road dust on the outside and you have a concrete like gooey substance that is very water repellent (even with a pressure washer)
they are relatively thick stampings to begin with so it takes alot longer to rot out, not to mention protected from the elements being on the underside of the car.
