Ah I'm an idiot lol. I see now that the distributor looks like it has a socket that sticks out below the gear.
I was trying to get a 1/4 in apex on it to try and pre pump oil through the engine before installing the distributor.
I need to pull the oil pump and install the drive from below 😆
