I had one that turned out to be the metal conduit from the generator rubbing inside the one hole clamp on the water neck on the side of the engine. The motor moved just enough that the metal tube rubbed inside the clamp. I cut a small piece of a water bottle and put it inside the clamp for a gasket…problem solved.
