Re: Wanted '38 Tonner Rear Fender
I think that the early tonner fenders are very similar to the '42-'47 tonner. The difference is in the bottom front where it bolts to the running board. If there is a bottom fender patch panel for the common 1/2 tons, this may work in the event a later fender is located. I once knew of a nos set of tonner panel fenders, and saw them at the Portland Swap meet. I passed on them because they were for the '38-'41 tonner. Yes, the depth and the flange are different from a pickup, but they were indeed in perfect NOS condition. Perhaps worthy of a careful graft. I will PM the man who was selling them. Lastly there is a man in the Canadian wheat country with a giant fleet of old ford trucks in a long lineup, all backed in on the edge of a field. I saw various tonner pickups. They are (were) quite common in Canada. Someone may know who he is. Lastly if any of you knew Gene Sheppard in Seattle. He daily drove a '40 pu for many years and collected mostly '30s big trucks. He sold a '40-'41 tonner pu to a man in Bellevue and it had a spare set of rear fenders. Looking back these are pretty much long shots, but that's how it has to be for some parts. Best of luck to him.
