This hasnt been my favorite distributor from Ford but seems as if theres been one on the bench for the last few weeks almost every week.
( i prefer the two bolt crab units)
Customers unit comes in ups and apart she goes.
This unit is a 11A ( advance designation and is marked all over with 11A) thats the degrees of distributor advance in the unit.
The only trick here is clean and then clean some more . We use a hot water ( Cuda) unit that get them pretty clean and a small ultrasonic fr the weights etc...
This set of weights was not used as someone had tuned them up with plyers before ......might use some day but had some cores with virgin weights etc and used them.....
New CS47 Napa points ( the best i believe )
Note the right hand set wasnt aligned very well, i have a old alignment tool to fix em up......see below.....
Back together and on the test machine......
Nice unit with a good advance curve ..... 11 degrees ( actually 12) at 2600 rpm...... 12 x 2 + 24 engine degrees at 2600.......add in the set timing ( usually 4 degrees ) and its a flathead perfect at 28 degreees.
Ran up to almost 5000 rpm before any float bounce etc.......
Good unit !!!!!!
