My head is spinning with the terminology of the parts. Gene is covering the full '32 to '47 range while I'm focused on the '40. Ken mentioned the cap and it is removed. One candidate lock is off of the mast (tube) and the cap is off but if I don't figure it out otherwise may carefully mask the switch plate and put it together after a careful lube. I have other units in various states of disassembly. Other partsers were dissected with the aid of a hacksaw, in an effort to understand. Hard way to go. Thanks: Fred A
