Fortunately, people here in North Carolina are more respectful of old cars than in California. One of the reasons I like it here better.

I would suggest you
do not take the fender off for any body work. Doing so runs a risk of it not fitting when returned. Do the hammer and dolly work with the fender bolted in place, then take it off to be painted.
