Re: points burning out on the Model A distributer
I checked a couple things last night after work. I removed the ground strap and cleaned the connection, and also removed the wires going to the cutout. The connections going to the cutout looked a little bit... Wrong?
The reason I mention the cutout is because I haven't changed the way it was wired since I've owned it. I did convert it to a diode but then just connected it the same way.
On my cutout there were two wires, the hot keyed and the lights going to the left side and the right side was for the horn. Before last night the horn would only work with the engine running. When I connect all three to the left side, the horn works off of the battery.
Here's my question, the way the horn was connected, could this have caused a voltage spike when the horn button was pressed? Just a thought.
