A kid (in high school) across the street had a Vega, which he decided did not have enough power. Finding a "bolt on" kit for a SB Chevy he found a Chevy V8 and mated the two together. First trip out the driveway, heavy on the throttle, twisted drive line. A week later, with a heavy duty drive line, he blew the rear end up. With a new heavy duty rear end the transmission lasted less than a month. With a bigger transmission the car ran great for a week... Until the car got totaled when he rear ended a truck because of not enough brakes.
