Sheet metal screws for the steel insert, but the heavy wire hoop sewn into the perimeter of the fabric insert was formed with three protrusions that fit into matching slots in the opening in the floor pan. The wire hoop was not a complete circle, although almost so, as it had an opening to permit the hoop to be reduced in its circumference to permit it to be inserted into the slots in the floor pan.
