I have remote door latches on my car and had unknowingly popped the passenger door latch open. While making a left turn I detected some extra road noise and discovered the door wide open. ( no damage)
That's when I decided to install a warning buzzer. As soon as the ignition switch was turned on, if the door was unlatched the buzzer would sound. ( it has worked more than once )
I used a push button, momentary, normally closed switch.
This allows grounding one side of the switch to the body with the need to fish only one wire to one side of the buzzer.
There should be a suitable spot somewhere on the door post to locate one.
