Paul, I would suggest that you put the stock filter system back on. If you're going to go "off-roading" in the desert, or other extreme uses of your vehicle, yeah, you may need some more serious filtering, but for the use that most of use have for these cars, the stock system is probably the best.

The "experts" you are referencing are probably guys whose main activity is racing. There are a lot of professional engine builders on here whose main goal is maximum performance, but for most of us, the Ford engineers probably knew best.
