Check the accuracy of the odometer before changing the driven gear.
Being gear driven the odometer will be more accurate than a speedometer needle driven with magnets & springs. If the odometer indicates very near correctly, a good cleaning, adjustment or light lubrication to the speedometer parts you have may be all it needs.
