In our Pacific North West, we have 10,000 ft high mountains and with two people aboard, it is no challenge at all for our 3.25 ration in climbing. The 3.54 ratio in our 1929 Tudor is just fine for hauling 4 passengers up a mountain. I have well tuned stock engines.
Fortunately we don't have the 10,000 ft elevation to contend with! But in all fairness to a Model-A engine, if you figure a Vicky weighs about 2900 pounds with 2 passengers aboard, -and when you add 2 additional passengers, you are increasing the total weight by about 15%. I would think that is a justifiable reason for it to be a little more sluggish.
