I did similar but rathe than tapping the holes I installed rivnuts. Can remove/install them in minutes. Also, I have what I am lead to understand is an aftermarket oil filler tube with a rather large breather (draft?) tube. I drilled a hole in the engine pan for the breather time to run through so the end is below the pan.
