The key for trimming like this are the areas where the wrap will not be seen. The rear area of the belt tack rail will have the top material attached so it's the unseen side. The fabric can be placed under the rail on the front side and wrapped over the top after attachment but before the top fabric is tacked down. A person can cover it up that way. I can't say exactly how Ford procedure went with overlapping of covering material sections in particular places or that type of information but an owner that has done one may reply for you on that. The inside would tend to bunch up in the corners unless those sections are overlapped in sequence to give a nice flat and even look to the covering. Top bows on some cars are done this way as well.
