I measured a AA 4-speed, bell housing and bearing retainer at 15 7/8" and an A
bell housing, trans and bearing retainer at 15 9/16". That is 5/16" longer but
the bearing retainer on the 4-speed was the AA-7085-B which is 5/16" thicker
than the correct A-7085-E retainer so with the correct retainer the A and AA setup
should the the same length over all.
