This question is about the start up of a rebuilt flathead with all the good hi performance stuff. Trying to help my freind with this project, we can't seem to get oil pressure. It has a Melling helical gear oil pump and Motor City Flathead out side oil filter. When the engine was turned over the gage didn't register oil pressure. When we took the filter off and turned the engine, the volumn of oil coming out was not much! Everything inside the engine was put together right, the gears in the oil pump were not lubed with heavy oil, could this be the problem? and it's not picking up the oil from pan? Has this happened to anybody else? any suggestions?
