That pan may have been used in a full-pressure engine, to allow the oil to drain into the pan. If using a stock dipper system they must be plugged or the rods will starve for oil. Nothing wrong using it in a stock system as long as the holes are thoroughly plugged. If you are worried about it, get a different dipper-tray.
