A lot depends on "WHAT" cutout you have. There must be a reason there are 6, 8 and 12 volt cutouts also 6 and 12 volt field winding's. ?
Often times when switching to 12 volts, the + and - are switched to be more compatible with modern amenities.
Yes people do convert Model T gens to 12 volts by changing the cutout without changing the field winding's so A's might be the same.
