Automotive paint has evolved so much that formulas are nearly useless. When the paint chemistry changes so does the mixing components. I think that matching is the only way now days using the old or newer chip books. New paints will never look like original lacquer with all of that Deep gloss. Solution: have small amounts mixed and shoot it to see if you like it. modify to make it better, then paint.
