Default Re: Rear axle nuts

More likely the hub the rolling action has caused the hub to seat "tighter" on the taper, and you've now made up the difference?

Did you grease the taper before installation when it was redone?

Les Andrews recommends 125 ft-lbs. which is nearly the recommended torque for fine thread Grade 5 bolt material (Fine =128)

Some think the material spec for axles (and nuts) is BETTER than Grade 5.

My Email reply for my query on Dorman Brand axle nuts for Model A application indicated that Dorman properties are about half way between Grade 5 and Grade 8. As in torque about 154 ft-lbs?

The Dorman nuts are No. 814-066 shown at http://www.dormanproducts.com/itemde...SEName=814-066.
