David,
You have solved some of the mystery of the oil pan installation. I would really like to do this upside down to get a good viewing of the pan gasket application, and some adhesives in correct locations. Humm? Can the engine be supported from the bolts that attach the manifolds? Would have to make an adapter for the engine stand. That way the engine could be flipped end over end , in theory?

Folks,
I have the head on, but may be tough to get off. Some of the head stud holes that I drilled were not as square as factory and they provided some challenge getting the gasket and head to be perfectly aligned. Head nuts torqued to 35 ft lbs, then 45, then final at 55 ft lbs.

A coat of flat black to somewhat clean up the block a little.

Thinking that supporting the engine from the manifold side may work too. I am sure I am not the first one to try that concept. Maybe a couple 5/16 bolts into the valve cover gasket holes too?

Oil pump and water pump need my attention soon too. Yea the truck is not going to be ready for Saturday morning prime time, in the fair parade. Maybe next year?

Thanks for checking in on me! Will the old engine run? Stay tuned! I think it has to run, it has a big "C" on the head, for Chris!

Regards,
Chris
