40-42 were steel.[about .040 wall thickeness]were finished ont the inside and were on size.The other sleeves most commonly used were high quality cast iron finished to size on the outside.The block was bore to a slight interference fit,the sleeves were installd and the sleeve was the bored and honed to size.Phil
