A 3 ohm ignition coil could in theory have more difficult cold starts, or possibly when flooded. Ford set up their 12 volt ignitions the way the did for a reason, all cars and trucks from 1957 to 1974 basically. Many other makes and models did exactly the same thing.

In theory it could, but it also introduces another part that can be prone to failure.
