One should get the Early Ford V8s 38-39 reference book. It has an extensive explanation of the different heaters and their component locations, mentioning that most were dealer installed. For the 37-38 blower switch it says "78-15168 attaches to the bottom flange of the instrument panel in holes that are either pre-punched or have to be drilled". Kube shows a 39 dash with pre-punched hole. Jacques shows a 38 dash that has to be drilled if he wants to follow the book.
