Exactly the same here in Iowa. Change out a gearbox in 30 minutes. That 303 Olds could destroy all sorts of Ford parts. My Olds powered 40 was constantly beating my friends Cad powered 39 on the Sioux City streets. He finally left a cluster on the street. I did the same thing elsewhere. That makes a hole in the side of the case for parts to exit. Yessir, put me back there and I'll do it again!!

I am not exaggerating when I say I actually blew the cluster out on the street. The Olds engine was mounted in the front and stock ford trans mount. Easy to figure out what was wrong. To much torq. on the trans mounted that way. We sure had fun at night around Pomona. It was race city in the late 50s early sixties. I guess this should have been on the HAMB. Jim
