Glad it came out. Not to sound like a worry wort, but I would also be a bit concerned or at least question/investigate what happened.
The ends of an OE fuel pump push rod were made with hardened steel I believe. Either somewhere in its life it had a cheap replacement or something it causing excessive pressure or wear.
