I,m going to have to disagree with you 1/4-28 is .250 in diameter, 1/8 pipe is close to .400 in diameter. They are nowhere close.
1/8 pipe and 3/8-24 are the one that are close.
I just finished putting kingpins in a pair of 37 spindles and they are 1/4-28.
I have 3 more sets and they are 1/4-28.
Compare a 1/8 pipe fitting and a 1/4 bolt to see the difference.
