Under the 8BA fan mounting nut there is suppose to be a square washer that fits in between the two legs of the fan mounting bracket and helps align the entire assembly. Sometimes this nut is missing or not seated properly, thereby throwing your fan out of alignment. You can see this nut in the photos below. Go ahead and remove your belts and the generator. Then you can check it all out. I made a little round spacer that goes under the BIG NUT and rests against the square washer. Click on photo to enlarge.
