For my money the Pines grille trim cluttered up a very nice clean looking grille.
The addition of a '40 LaSalle or Packard grille really looked good on a '36. I almost put a LaSalle grille on my '36 coupe in 1952/53, then thought better of the idea.
I seem to recall that "Pines" made a metal cover for the 36 Grille that reduced the grille size down to almost the size of the LaSalle grille.
