I'm guessing that those plates were on the truck when you bought it . When you bought the truck did the prior owner sign a release form turning the plates over to you? technically those plates do not belong to the vehicle. They belong to the registered owner. Only that person can sign the release to pass them on to another party. A nice set of '40 commercial CA. plates can command a nice chunk of change.
