I stopped by the oldest auto parts store I have locally and explained my situation. They knew exactly what I was referring to and handed me a tube of Sil-Glyde and from the looks of it I think they're right. It has been around since the 50's and if the description on the tube is accurate it is exactly what I need. Thanks for the advice everyone.
