It should end up as in V8COOPMAN's photo. It isn't an easy chore, but it goes much easier if you start with the inner open loop in place on top of the stud attached to the firewall, then you can use a screw driver on the long portion of the spring to gain leverage and then swing it up and over the arm for the rod going to the carburetor.
