I have had leaks get better, than worse, than better again over the years we have owned our 29. “40 years”. Oil drip has been at rear of engine.
We have had the pan off twice and checked everything. Never found cause, if there is one.
I always tell people that “Model A’s mark their spots”.
My personal view on running engines down one quart is not to do it. With the already marginal cooling system, I think the engine needs any additional cooling help the oil brings.
