I use the same stuff I have used for 50 years. Plain ol' cleaning solvent. It says that's what it is right on the barrel. I have a big fan over the cleaning tank so no smells. The lid is self closing in case of fire. The solvent doesn't cause rust. It is very slow evaporating. If I per chance should get some on my hands, it is non irritating.
