Because people buy them, is a simple answer. Don't know for certain though.
But they do.
There 8BA type is just a sbc turned to fit the flathead. Still has the sbc curve. I have also curved a couple of the front mount (pre 49 type) type Mallorys, they also had a slow to far curve sbc style. Personal I don't know why a company isn't interested in doing the job right. The front mount type was a new body and some parts ignition, not just an adaption of an existing ignition, like the 8BA one. Why didn't they finish the job and put a flathead curve in it? Goodness knows.
