The winsdor based engine is the way to go. The 400M is way to heavy, and the C-6 is a lot bigger and heavyier than the C4. In the bird the lighter engine trans combo will make a lot of difference. If you want a lot of power then consider going all the way to 427 cu in with the winsdor. I have a 427 inch winsdor in a 1951 ford coupe with a 4 speed, its awesom. My opinion is the winsdor. don't even consider the modified.
