Default Re: range on a full tank of gas 10us gal

Humble Opinion:

1. If you are second guessing Model A gas mileage, experience shows it varies based on so many factors, & there are far too many to list herein.

2. Suggest making a wood measuring stick, minimum size about 3/4" x 5/8" x 12" long, with the stick marked on one side with horizontal marks & numbers similar to markings on a tire gauge as follows, to indicate how many gallons are in your tank:

3. Measuring from the bottom of the 12" long stick at (O) gallons, the height for each added gallon of gas appears to be approximately as follows:

(1) gallon @ 1-1/2" from the bottom of the stick; (2) gallons @ 2-1/2"; (3) @3-3/8"; (4) @ 4-3/16"; (5) @ 5"; (6) @ 5-13/16"; (7) @ 6-11/16"; (8) @ 7-1/2"; (9) @ 8-9/16"; & (10) gallons @ 10-1/16" from the bottom of the stick.

4. Posted this about 6 days ago -- it was copied from another author in a former post -- asked a question about 1928-1929 tank measurements vs. 1930-1931 & received no reply -- it cannot be too far off if any.

5. Check gauge now & then while traveling long or short distances -- just an inexpensive simple marked wood stick that does not require a calculator at every stop, and beats walking 10 miles to the nearest gas station when one runs out of gas.

Hope this helps to prevent getting stranded on the highway with an empty tank.
