Hmmm...the vent with cast passage going down is associated with early side shifters, 1940. I wonder two things...was it changed to the common type because it dumped oil flung by gears overboard...and could this '41 have the early setup? I know I have an early one somewhere and I can spot the difference, but right now I don't remember any detail. I believe it has a cast-in passage visible from bellhousing area...
