I'm not a ham, but my dad was (W8KOO). He and I went to several National Meets in either a '30 Standard Roadster or a '29 Open Cab Pickup. He installed his 2-meter rig in the Model A's and I remember his really enjoying talking to other hams and mentioning what his mode of transportation was. He powered the radio externally with a 12 volt lawn mower batterry and mounted the antenna off the rear bumper mount or off of the pickup bed. Your post brought back many good memories. I miss him.
