Oh well, you have my sympathy. I am too trusting as well. I have had several hundred transactions on ebay and fordbarn and was only cheated twice. Paypal gave me my money back for the ebay item but on Fordbarn I ended up paying double for 40 drums.

When I was new to this hobby I advertised for 40 drums. I got a response and when they arrived he had removed the hubs. Want the hubs? Oh, pay the same amount again!

Crooks like these two are thankfully few and far between.
