there are 3 sizes of the rods. The one you have might be longer than the one you need. Do not cut the end, or your horn will not work. Most parts catalogs have the three dimensions printed in the part description.

BTW, most repro rods will need to have the diameter of the shaft filed a touch smaller up near the top so the last 1/2 inch will fit into the steering wheel
