I like to start with no earlier than a '70 V8, pickup, or van trans and prefer the case fill. If you get a van or pickup and are going windsor or 351 cleveland, the case and bellhousing allows for either a 10 or 11 inch torque converter which gives you much more selection. Heavy duty bands, clutch plates, and shift kits can be purchased at any transmission parts warehouse in your area.
