About the "ridge" at the tops of the cylinders: The way I understand it, it's kind of harmless on its own, BUT, if you rev the engine much over the RPM it's usually run, the rods will stretch a little and that will allow the top ring to hit the ridge, causing the ring to break, causing major problems. You might be able to rent a ridge reamer at reasonable cost. Good Luck!!
